Martial arts is an umbrella term for many disciplines of fighting style from Karate to Taekwondo, each with their own history and usually coming from a specific region in the Far East.
Despite connotations as a Far Eastern art form, the origins of the term 'martial art' is actually Roman and comes from a Latin derivative that means the 'arts of Mars', Mars being the Roman God of War.
Martial arts come in many variations and formats including the popular fighting styles of Karate, Judo and Jiu-Jitsu, to the more technically focused variants of Tai-Chi and Aikido which are designed to improve health and wellbeing rather than be used as a combat method.
Whilst not all martial arts are classed as competitive sports, several of them are categorised as Olympic sports including Taekwondo and Judo and more Western practices of martial art like wrestling.
Martial artists often wear robes or gowns as part of their outfit which are traditionally tied around the waist with coloured belts, the colours denoting the level of skill the practitioner has obtained with black being the highest level for most sports.
Our personalised martial arts uniforms are ideal for teams from a certain school of martial art - often referred to as a 'dojo' - to wear the same outfit for competitions or shows to demonstrate their skills and show their belonging. The uniforms can be adorned with the school's logo and details and come in a range of colours to allow some variety in your uniforms.
